To be responsible for managing and progressing Urban Design functions within Streetscene, including project management and implementation functions.

3. To achieve timely, effective urban design outcomes which uphold the Council’s Core Values and meet the challenges of Best Value and Comprehensive Performance Assessment.
4. To ensure the provision of a high quality urban design and advice service within a public realm functional area ensuring it is compliant with the Council’s Community Strategy, Area Action Plans, Supplementary Planning Documents, etc.
5. To develop, influence and implement the Public Realm strategy and policy to ensure the delivery of a high quality public realm in the borough.
6. To lead on the strategic management of the public realm in urban design related matters.
7. To ensure statutory and legal obligations are delivered and communicated in a customer focussed manner, optimising available resources.
8. a) To be the representative for the Council, in conjunction with colleagues, as a spokesperson on Urban Design related issues. b) To be the representative the Council as an expert spokesperson on Urban Design related issues.
9. a) To oversee the supervision of staff and contribute towards staff training, development and performance. To continually review professional standards to ensure health & safety requirements are met and external recognition and accreditation of the Unit.

10. To be an active member of and contribute to the development of the Service Area and to promote and develop opportunities for partnership and cross-departmental working across the Council.
