About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Governance, Performance and Improvement Manager to join our team at the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR).

Key Responsibilities
  • Enhance organizational processes and ensure robust governance frameworks.
  • Lead performance improvement initiatives and contribute to the organization's mission of improving health and wealth through research.
  • Work closely with the Governance, Performance and Improvement Lead to oversee governance frameworks, enhance performance metrics, and spearhead continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide expert advice and operational delivery of all areas of governance.
  • Assist with the development of effective and efficient risk management, complaints management, and information governance.
  • Support the Senior Information Governance Manager in carrying out Data Protection Audits, Data Protection Impact Assessments, and ensuring that the ROPA is up to date.
  • Work with the Senior Project and CI Manager to ensure that the annual planning cycle runs smoothly and that all plans are regularly reviewed and updated.
  • Identify opportunities for improving the collection and quality of formal documentation.
Requirements
  • Understanding and experience of corporate governance.
  • Experience of delivering secretariat service, including writing minutes and papers.
  • Microsoft Office, G Suite, and project management software skills.
  • Writing and maintaining policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Experience of writing and maintaining risk registers.
  • An understanding of academic and/or research activities in science.
  • Experience of translating policy into practice.
  • Change management experience.

Working Arrangements

This is an office-based, home-working (hybrid) role with an expectation for all employees to attend our offices a minimum of 4 days a month, which might increase, subject to team requirements.
