ISG is a forward-thinking construction and engineering firm specializing in large-scale, intricate projects throughout the UK. We are currently seeking a Senior Technical Services Manager to enhance our expanding High-Tech Manufacturing division, specifically in the execution of a pharmaceutical production facility.

Role Purpose

To ensure the delivery of high-quality services and products to our clients, aligning with project objectives by collaborating with the professional team, trades, vendors, and utilizing ISG's systems, procedures, and culture. This role is a senior management position where the successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and presenting reports, leading meetings with delivery partners, clients, and their customers, and overseeing engineering delivery on-site, including quality and health and safety aspects. While commissioning is outsourced, ISG expects the TSM to be actively engaged in the commissioning and project closeout phases.

Key Accountabilities

To oversee the mechanical aspects of a major pharmaceutical project from design through procurement, installation, and commissioning, reporting directly to the Engineering Director. Facilitate BIM workshops and design evaluations. Identify challenges and propose effective solutions. Manage MEP design relevant to the assigned package of work. Review technical submissions, designs, and shop drawings for compliance with employer requirements. Contribute to the coordinated project schedule and provide insights on installation and commissioning sequencing. Actively participate in the design process, offering technical support and industry expertise to the design team. Monitor design releases against the schedule, highlighting potential risks and suggesting mitigation strategies. Manage trade contractors associated with the package of work. Collaborate with trade contractors to establish quality sign-off schedules. Inspect and monitor workmanship quality on-site, ensuring compliance with employer requirements. Track trade contractor progress on-site, conduct regular progress meetings, and identify program risks with proposed mitigation strategies. Review, comment on, and approve Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMs). Ensure health and safety compliance on-site. Establish commissioning sign-offs and comprehend the commissioning strategy. Assist the commissioning team in achieving project completion. Contribute to project reports, detailing progress and deliverables associated with the package of work. Provide high-level strategic insights at the project level. Offer information to the proposal team as needed. Participate in client presentations and workshops. Manage relationships with the supply chain and vendors. Promote ISG's philosophy and culture. Generate precise and concise project reports. Monitor the project schedule and contribute to mitigation measures. Take a leading role in presenting the project to clients. Provide buildability advice and value engineering solutions. Maintain awareness of cost elements and budgeting. Advocate for and implement the Zero Defects quality initiative, ensuring the project meets high-quality standards. Apply best practices to ensure safe and timely project delivery.

Skills & Experience

Comprehensive knowledge of pre-construction and construction processes. Familiarity with good manufacturing practices. Understanding of the pre-construction process and the ability to organize and manage the design phase of a project. Strong political awareness. Ability to gather information from the team to prepare and present project reports. Experience at a senior level in medium (£50m+) and preferably at least one large (£100m+) project. Knowledge of health and safety policies and management systems. Prefabrication knowledge is desirable but not essential. Experience in major projects. Background in pharmaceuticals. Familiarity with GMP standards.

Qualifications

Recognized qualification in building services disciplines. CSCS card holder.
