About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Employer Relations Officer to join our team at the University of Birmingham. As a key member of our Careers Network, you will play a vital role in establishing and maintaining relationships with employers, academics, and other stakeholders to enhance the student experience and increase access to opportunities for students and graduates.

Main Responsibilities
  • Employer Engagement and Research
    • Liaise with employers, professional bodies, and University departments to develop a network of knowledge, contacts, and opportunities in relevant sectors.
    • Identify opportunities for new partnerships or engagement across relevant College sectors, taking ownership for delivering against agreed targets for new engagement and student opportunities.
    • Manage employer approaches, evaluating employer needs, and offering tailored advice and consultancy on services available and bespoke opportunities.
  • Employer Engagement and Events
    • Project manage, develop, and coordinate a cohesive programme of employer and information events to attract new business and maintain and grow existing partnerships.
    • Project manage and promote sponsorship opportunities, employer events, and activities to generate income and complement other employability events and curriculum engagement.
  • Opportunities Management System and Customer Relationship Management
    • Develop and maintain the employer and events elements of Careers Network's vacancy and events platform.
    • Accurately record employer intelligence and contacts on the Careers Connect portal, sharing and disseminating updates with Employer Relations team members and College team colleagues.
Requirements
  • Demonstrable relevant previous experience in business development, events organisation, and project management.
  • Strong understanding of the student and graduate experience and current issues impacting on employability and graduate recruitment.
  • Evidence of literacy and numeracy, with the ability to write clearly, and to analyse information and data.
  • Highly proficient IT skills, including the wider MS Office suite of programmes and experience of custom systems and databases.
