Job Summary

The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join the Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Expert Advisory Group (PRASEAG). As a member of this group, you will provide clinical and scientific expertise to support the regulation of medical devices used in plastic surgery.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing expert advice on the regulation of medical devices used in plastic surgery
  • Assessing the benefits and risks of medical devices used in plastic surgery
  • Representing the views of the wider Cosmetic Practice Standards Authority (CPSA) and providing feedback to its members
  • Contributing to the work of the PRASEAG, including on issues outside of their specialism
  • Developing a working knowledge and understanding of the UK medical device regulatory framework and procedures
Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience as a registered Healthcare Professional (HCP)
  • Membership of the Cosmetic Practice Standards Authority (CPSA) Board
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to operate effectively on an expert scientific committee
  • Ability to assimilate and interpret complex scientific information and formulate evidence-based comments/advice at short notice
  • Flexibility and enthusiasm to work as a team member
  • Commitment to the values of selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, professionalism, impartiality, and consistency

  • Recognition by peers as a leader in their field
  • Ability to network more widely
  • Knowledge of the UK practice guidance issued by the CPSA with ability to influence updates to guidance
