Expert Advisor for Plastic Surgery Devices

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join the Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Expert Advisory Group (PRASEAG). As a member of this group, you will provide clinical and scientific expertise to support the regulation of medical devices used in plastic surgery.
Main ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing expert advice on the regulation of medical devices used in plastic surgery
- Contributing to the development of guidance and policies related to medical device regulation
- Assessing the benefits and risks of medical devices used in plastic surgery
- Representing the views of the wider Cosmetic Practice Standards Authority (CPSA) and providing feedback to its members
- Working collaboratively with other experts to achieve the goals of the PRASEAG
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in a senior role with responsibility for making decisions related to patient safety
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to operate effectively on an expert scientific committee
- Ability to assimilate and interpret complex scientific information and formulate evidence-based comments/advice at short notice
- Flexibility and enthusiasm to work as a team member
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with respect to the work of the EAG
- Commitment to the values of selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, professionalism, impartiality, and consistency
The following qualifications are desirable:
- Recognition by peers as a leader in the field
- Ability to network more widely
- Knowledge of the UK practice guidance issued by the CPSA with ability to influence updates to guidance
