Expert Advisor for Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery

The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join the Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Expert Advisory Group (PRASEAG). As an expert advisor, you will provide clinical and scientific perspective on the regulation of medical devices used in Plastic Surgery, both for cosmetic and reconstructive procedures.
Main ResponsibilitiesThe PRASEAG is responsible for helping the MHRA to better understand the risks, benefits, and complications that may be caused by devices and medicines used for both reconstructive and cosmetic Plastic Surgical purposes. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing expertise on the regulation of medical devices used in Plastic Surgery
- Assessing the risks and benefits of medical devices and medicines used in Plastic Surgery
- Contributing to the development of guidance and policies related to medical device regulation
- Representing the views of the wider Cosmetic Practice Standards Authority (CPSA) and providing feedback to its members
- Working effectively as a team member to achieve the goals of the PRASEAG
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- Experience as a registered Healthcare Professional (HCP) with a strong background in Plastic Surgery
- Membership of the Cosmetic Practice Standards Authority (CPSA) Board
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to operate effectively on an expert scientific committee
- Flexibility and enthusiasm to work as a team member
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to the Code of Practice
It would be beneficial if you have:
- Recognition as a leader in your field by your peers
- Experience in a senior role with responsibility for making decisions related to patient safety
- Knowledge of the UK medical device regulatory framework and procedures
