Job Summary

The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced expert to join the Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Expert Advisory Group (PRASEAG). As a key member of this group, you will provide clinical and scientific expertise to inform the regulation of medical devices used in Plastic Surgery.

Main Responsibilities

As an expert advisor, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing clinical and scientific expertise to inform the regulation of medical devices used in Plastic Surgery
  • Contributing to the development of guidance and policies related to medical devices in Plastic Surgery
  • Collaborating with other experts and stakeholders to ensure that the views of the wider Cosmetic Practice Standards Authority (CPSA) are represented
  • Assessing benefit and risk relating to patient safety and providing evidence-based comments and advice
  • Operating effectively on an expert scientific committee and contributing to the work of the EAG
Person Specification

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following qualifications and skills:

  • Be an active member of the CPSA Board
  • Be a registered Healthcare Professional (HCP)
  • Have experience in a senior role with responsibility for making decisions related to patient safety
  • Be able to represent the views of the wider CPSA and to feedback the work of PRASEAG to its members
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Be able to identify solutions to difficult problems, with an objective, independent and impartial approach
  • Be willing to develop a working knowledge and understanding of the UK medical device regulatory framework and procedures
  • Be able to maintain strict confidentiality with respect to the work of the EAG
  • Be committed to the values of selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, professionalism, impartiality and consistency

  • Be recognised by peers as a leader in the field of Plastic Surgery

  • Be knowledgeable in the UK practice guidance issued by the CPSA and have the ability to influence updates to guidance
