Job Summary

The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join the Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Expert Advisory Group (PRASEAG). As a member of this group, you will provide clinical and scientific expertise to support the regulation of medical devices used in plastic surgery.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing expert advice on the regulation of medical devices used in plastic surgery
  • Assessing the benefits and risks of medical devices used in plastic surgery
  • Contributing to the development of guidelines and policies for the regulation of medical devices used in plastic surgery
  • Representing the views of the wider Joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners (JCCP) and providing feedback to its members
  • Staying up-to-date with the latest scientific and clinical developments in plastic surgery and medical device regulation
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must:

  • Be an active member of the JCCP Council
  • Be a registered Healthcare Professional (HCP)
  • Have experience in a senior role with responsibility for making decisions related to patient safety
  • Be knowledgeable in the proposed licensing scheme for non-surgical cosmetic devices
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Be able to operate effectively on an expert scientific committee
  • Be able to assimilate and interpret complex scientific information and formulate evidence-based comments/advice at short notice
Desirable Qualifications

The following qualifications are desirable but not essential:

  • Recognition by peers as a leader in the field of plastic surgery
  • Ability to network more widely
