The Role and Department Overview


The International, Engagement and Careers (IEC) department plays a pivotal role in enhancing the Business School's global initiatives, facilitating international experiences for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. This includes organizing study visits, engaging with external organizations, and providing tailored career services for students and alumni.

Our mission is to elevate the international profile of the School, foster business connections within the North East region, and cultivate students as Global Citizens.

The Administrator will be an integral part of the IEC's International team, responsible for supporting administrative functions related to all international endeavors. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality administrative assistance.

Essential Skills and Experience

To be considered for this role, candidates should demonstrate the following qualifications and experience:

  • A minimum of five GCSEs at Grade C or level four (or equivalent), including English Language and Mathematics.
  • Experience in a busy office environment, delivering frontline administrative services or possessing relevant qualifications.
  • Proven ability to manage time effectively, meet deadlines, and work under pressure while maintaining quality.
Key Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
  • Proficient digital skills, including experience with digital devices, applications, and Microsoft 365.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Problem-solving abilities and capacity to address straightforward issues independently or collaboratively.
  • Capability to provide guidance and support to colleagues and customers.
Desirable Qualifications

  • Post-16 qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in a multicultural environment.
  • Background in Higher Education.

Role Responsibilities


The Administrator will be expected to undertake various activities, including:

Service Delivery

  • Demonstrating a commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.

  • Accurately collecting, organizing, and recording data, and generating reports as needed.

  • Updating guidance on standard operating procedures.
  • Coordinating meeting and event logistics.

  • Assisting in organizing administrative services that support key departmental activities.
  • Adapting services based on feedback to meet evolving demands.
Communication and Liaison

  • Gathering feedback from stakeholders to ensure service expectations are met.
  • Documenting information and responding to inquiries.
  • Collaborating with staff and external partners to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Supporting meetings and committees by preparing documents and taking minutes.
Flexibility Requirements

The role may require flexibility to support events, including potential evening and weekend work, as well as national and international travel.
