Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Ward Sister/Charge Nurse to join our team at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our nursing team, you will work closely with the Ward Sisters to provide high-quality care for our patients.

The GI Unit is a 56-bedded ward providing care for acute emergency patients, as well as Upper GI and Colorectal specialist surgeries and Gastro in-patients. This role offers the opportunity to develop a wide range of clinical knowledge and skills, with support for ongoing professional development through study days and training.

Main Duties
  • Provide strong clinical leadership skills and inspire the nursing team towards a common goal.
  • Be involved in rostering and allocation/approval of bank & agency staff.
  • Co-ordinate the day-to-day running of the ward to deliver safe and effective care.
  • Deputise for the Sister/Charge Nurse in their absence.
  • Deal with complaints in a calm and efficient manner.
  • Be a role model in delivering safe and effective patient care.
  • Assess, plan and implement care, provide specialist advice and maintain associated and accurate records.
  • Provide leadership, support and guidance to staff in monitoring the planning delivery and evaluation of individualised care.
