About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Deputy Ward Sister/Charge Nurse to join our team at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a clinical leadership role and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care in our GI Unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strong clinical leadership skills and inspire the nursing team towards a common goal.
  • Be involved in rostering and allocation/approval of bank & agency staff.
  • Co-ordinate the day to day running of the ward to deliver safe and effective care.
  • Deputise for the Sister/Charge Nurse in their absence.
  • Deal with complaints in a calm and efficient manner.
  • Be a role model in delivering safe and effective patient care.
  • Assess, plan and implement care, provide specialist advice and maintain associated and accurate records.
  • Provide leadership, support and guidance to staff in monitoring the planning delivery and evaluation of individualised care.
Requirements
  • Proven experience of managing a ward; including management of rotas managing competencies, resources and staff.
  • Experience of teaching/assessing/ supervising others in a clinical setting.
  • Ability to organise and plan own time and that of junior staff and learners.
  • Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate specialist care delivered to patients/clients and give relevant advice/information to patients and relatives.
  • Up to date knowledge of current clinical and professional issues.
  • Good communication skills and ability to deal with sensitive information.
  • BSC/1st degree (health related) or equivalent qualification/training and experience.
  • Post registration qualification in or can demonstrate relevant experience and competence (appropriate area of speciality).
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development in relevant area of speciality.
  • RN1/ RN2/ RN12 or RN Child Registered Nurse on the NMC register.
