Role Overview:
As a Child Protection Case Manager, you will be responsible for evaluating risks and investigating allegations or concerns regarding individuals who may present a safeguarding threat to children or Adults at Risk (AAR) within the realm of football. Your role will involve implementing appropriate risk management strategies.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Efficiently manage a caseload of referrals in accordance with the policies, procedures, and regulations set forth by The FA.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into allegations or concerns related to individuals involved in football.
  • Prepare detailed risk assessments and, when necessary, propose risk management plans to the relevant safeguarding authorities.
  • Compile comprehensive reports for the Safeguarding Review Panel regarding cases requiring formal orders.
  • Ensure timely progression of cases to resolution, adhering to stipulated timelines.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files in compliance with The FA's Case Management system and data protection protocols.
  • Fulfill legal obligations under the Protection of Freedoms Act, including necessary referrals to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Collaboration and Support:
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams and external agencies, including County FAs and statutory bodies.
  • Support Designated Safeguarding Officers in football and contribute to training initiatives at both regional and national levels.
  • Engage in self-reflection and seek feedback to identify areas for professional development.
  • Adapt to changing priorities within The FA Group and undertake additional tasks as required.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies to maintain high standards of health, safety, and wellbeing.
  • Complete a DBS check as part of The FA's commitment to safeguarding.

Qualifications and Experience:
Essential:
  • Degree in Social Work, Law, or a related field with relevant experience in child protection or risk assessment.
  • A minimum of three years' experience in frontline child protection or risk assessment.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding frameworks and best practices.
  • Demonstrated child-centered approach and knowledge of children's rights.
  • Exceptional report writing and analytical skills.
  • Experience in handling sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and travel as needed.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Emotional resilience in challenging situations.

Desirable:
  • Experience in a regulatory environment.
  • Knowledge of child protection legislation and relevant agencies.
  • Familiarity with the football industry.
  • Understanding of mental wellbeing strategies for adults at risk.
