Key Responsibilities:

  1. Representation in Care Proceedings:
  • Deliver comprehensive legal representation for children involved in care proceedings, ensuring their rights are prioritized and effectively advocated in judicial settings.
  1. Legal Advisory Services:
  • Provide specialized legal counsel to children, guardians, and families regarding care proceedings, child protection issues, and related family law matters.
  1. Court Advocacy:
  • Serve as an advocate in court, articulating cases, cross-examining witnesses, and making legal submissions on behalf of the child or their guardian.
  1. Management of Legal Cases:
  • Oversee a caseload of intricate and sensitive care proceedings, ensuring thorough preparation, evidence collection, document drafting, and collaboration with other professionals.
  1. Client Engagement and Communication:
  • Uphold exceptional standards of client engagement, ensuring clear, compassionate, and effective communication with children, their families, and involved professionals.
  1. Collaboration with Interdisciplinary Teams:
  • Work in partnership with social workers, guardians, medical experts, and other professionals to gather insights, provide legal guidance, and formulate case strategies.
  1. Management of Legal Aid:
  • Ensure adherence to legal aid regulations and manage the financial aspects of cases, including applications for and justifications of legal aid funding as required.
  1. Documentation and Reporting for Court:
  • Draft and review court-related documents, including statements, orders, and reports, ensuring precision and compliance with legal standards.
  1. Professional Development:
  • Engage in continuous professional development through training sessions, seminars, and workshops to enhance legal expertise and advocacy capabilities.
The Ideal Candidate:
  • Must be an experienced Childcare Solicitor with Child Panel accreditation.
  • Skilled in advising families on care proceedings and legal aid matters.
  • Experience with complex cases involving medical issues is beneficial.
  • Proven track record in representing children in care proceedings.
  • Exemplary client care and communication skills are essential.
