Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity has emerged for qualified and experienced professionals to become integral members of our Safeguarding Team in the capacity of Child Protection Nursing Specialist. The successful candidates will play a crucial role within the children safeguarding team, collaborating closely with colleagues to uphold the highest standards of care while ensuring that the safeguarding of children remains a primary focus of our practice.

In this position, you will engage in a diverse range of safeguarding initiatives. Responsibilities will include providing guidance, support, and supervision to frontline staff, working alongside multidisciplinary teams, and participating in various safeguarding meetings. This role is essential in contributing to the development and delivery of safeguarding training programs.

Candidates must exhibit critical thinking, analytical skills, and an inquisitive mindset to enhance decision-making processes related to the protection of vulnerable children. Strong organizational abilities and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively within a larger team are essential.

The role will be situated within our community team, supporting services dedicated to safeguarding children.

Main Responsibilities

  • Identify vulnerable children, young individuals, and families early, providing effective support and care programs that promote their health and well-being.
  • Recognize and mitigate situations that may adversely affect the health and well-being of individuals.
  • Exhibit expert practice and provide specialized advice in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
  • Deliver professional clinical leadership in specialized areas.
  • Contribute to child protection case conferences and strategy meetings to ensure optimal outcomes for vulnerable children.
  • Represent the organization in multi-agency subgroups of the Local Safeguarding Children Partnership as necessary.
  • Facilitate formal safeguarding training sessions for designated staff on child protection and safeguarding matters, promoting learning and personal development.

Education/Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse specializing in Child Health or Health Visitor/Specialist Nurse.
  • Specialist Community Public Health Nursing qualification.

Desirable

  • ENB or MSc in Child Protection.
  • ENB 998 or Teaching qualification.

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

  • Awareness and understanding of child protection issues.
  • Knowledge of interagency collaboration and the roles of various agencies in safeguarding.
  • Familiarity with clinical and child protection supervision.
  • Understanding of family dynamics and cultural considerations in safeguarding.
