Position Overview

The role of a PSV Driver involves delivering a high-quality driving service that caters to our clients and service users. You will be responsible for ensuring safe transportation for individuals, particularly in a home-to-school context, while also assisting with the operation of passenger lifts and supporting the Passenger Assistant as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive the vehicle safely, complying with local traffic regulations and speed limits. Report any fines or tickets to the office promptly.
  • Conduct mandatory vehicle inspections before each use, ensuring compliance with road safety standards. Report any vehicle defects immediately.
  • Secure all passengers and wheelchair users properly using the necessary safety equipment.
  • Maintain adequate fuel levels for journeys, refueling as required or instructed.
  • Regularly clean the vehicle, both inside and out, at least once a week.
  • Replace seating as necessary.
  • Park the vehicle correctly in designated bays at the depot.
  • Operate the passenger lift and assist passengers in entering and exiting the vehicle safely.
  • Communicate effectively and patiently with passengers and clients.
  • Support the Passenger Assistant in their duties as required.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
  • Strong understanding of working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Ability to provide service with a calm and patient demeanor.
  • Possess a full unrestricted D driving license (auto restrictions acceptable) with no more than three penalty points.
  • Hold a valid CPC qualification card, ensuring all mandatory training is current.
  • At least two years of experience driving a bus or coach.
  • Possess or be willing to apply for a DVLA Digital Tachograph driver's card.
  • Willingness to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
  • Hold a current and valid D4 medical examination report.
