Position Overview
The Greenwich Council is on the lookout for a skilled and dedicated Fraud Investigation Specialist to join our Internal Audit and Anti-Fraud team.
Key Responsibilities
We seek a Fraud Investigation Specialist with a strong background in investigative work, who is proactive, innovative, and committed to making a significant impact. Candidates must exhibit comprehensive knowledge and experience regarding both civil and criminal resolutions related to fraud investigations.
We require a driven and resourceful individual, preferably with experience in a counter fraud setting, who possesses a meticulous and analytical mindset. The ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and make well-informed decisions is essential for this role. The ideal candidate will thrive under pressure and collaborate effectively with colleagues and other governmental bodies as necessary.
Qualifications
The perfect candidate for this role will possess:
- Hands-on experience in planning and executing investigations within a Local Authority or similar Government Agency, particularly those of a complex, confidential, or sensitive nature.
- A relevant qualification from a recognized institution, such as the ACFO (Accredited Counter Fraud Officer) certification or equivalent.
- The ability to exercise judgment and discretion during investigations, ensuring the confidentiality of cases in compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and other applicable legislation.
- Proficiency in interviewing individuals suspected of fraud or irregularities, adhering to the professional standards outlined in the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 (PACE) and legal guidelines, while gathering witness statements, compiling evidence, and preparing case files for referral to Legal Services or Law Enforcement for prosecution under the Criminal Procedures and Investigations Act 1996 (CPIA).
