About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join our team as an Early Careers Lead. This is an exciting opportunity to work with our PhD programme and contribute to the development of our students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the student journey from enquiry to graduation, ensuring a smooth and supportive experience for all students.
  • Work collaboratively with PhD candidates, supervisors, and key scheme influencers to build and develop the programme.
  • Maintain an annual calendar of activities for all cohorts and ensure the programme runs smoothly through key milestones.
  • Communicate progress to internal and external stakeholders, providing updates on student achievements and programme developments.
  • Meet with PhD students to monitor their wellbeing and achievements, working with supervisors to resolve any issues.
  • Design and deliver PhD recruitment activities that support our ED&I strategy, promoting diversity and inclusion in STEM.
  • Build awareness of the programme and promote it externally, establishing partnerships with academic institutions to deliver the programme.
  • Line manage the Training Co-ordinator, working with the HR team to develop career development opportunities and support career structures within the Franklin.

Requirements

  • Ability to manage multiple parallel activities and projects, with experience in training programme design and delivery.
  • Understanding of training principles and practice in research, with strong project delivery and analysis skills.
  • Ability to work at pace, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively with a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Experience in an academic environment, with an understanding of the challenges faced by post-graduate students.
  • Flexibility to take on other tasks, with a calm and composed approach under pressure.
  • Commitment to personal development, with a willingness to learn new skills and take on new challenges.
