The Rosalind Franklin Institute is a leading research centre dedicated to advancing life sciences through interdisciplinary research and technology. We are seeking an experienced professional to join our team as an Early Careers Lead, responsible for ensuring the success of our PhD programme.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the student journey from application to graduation, providing support and guidance throughout their academic journey.
  • Collaborate with PhD candidates, supervisors, and key stakeholders to develop and implement a comprehensive support network for students.
  • Design and deliver training programmes to enhance students' skills and experiences, promoting their future career opportunities.
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to communicate programme progress and updates.
  • Monitor students' wellbeing and achievements, working with supervisors to resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote diversity and inclusion in our PhD programme, aligning with our ED&I strategy.
  • Build partnerships with academic institutions to deliver the programme and provide challenging opportunities for students.
  • Line manage the Training Co-ordinator, ensuring effective programme delivery and student support.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in managing multiple parallel activities and projects, with a strong track record of delivering results.
  • Experience in training programme design and delivery, preferably in a scientific or academic environment.
  • Understanding of training principles and practice in research, with a focus on student development and support.
  • Strong project delivery, analysis, evaluation, and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work at pace, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively with a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Experience working in an academic environment, with a deep understanding of the challenges faced by postgraduate students.
  • Flexibility to take on additional tasks, with a calm and composed approach under pressure.
  • Commitment to personal development, with a willingness to learn new skills and take on new challenges.
