Job Summary

We are looking for a Medical Receptionist to provide a helpful and friendly service, ensuring the reception area is tidy and welcoming. The successful candidate will be responsible for registering new patients, processing face-to-face and phone requests, and signposting patients to the appropriate healthcare professional.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide a helpful and friendly service to patients and staff
  • Register new patients and process face-to-face and phone requests
  • Signpost patients to the appropriate healthcare professional
  • Liaise with the Reception Manager/Practice Manager as required
  • Ensure an effective and efficient reception service
  • Process payments and issue receipts
  • Prepare medical records for patients to return
  • Log new patient records and file appropriately
  • Assist with completion of patient surveys
  • Keep the reception area, notice boards, and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter

Person Specification

  • Good communication skills
  • Good telephone skills
  • Social skills
  • Experience in a GP practice (desirable)
  • Vision trained (desirable)
