Role Summary:

As the Regional Sales Manager, you will play a pivotal role in acquiring new projects and securing grounds maintenance contracts to exceed regional sales goals.

Your duties will include developing relationships with current and prospective clients, creating competitive pricing structures and proposals for timely submission, and managing a range of services, including landscape construction, grounds maintenance, arboriculture, winter gritting, and minor building and civil works (e.g., fencing).

This dynamic position focuses on securing Extra Works projects valued between £10k and £500k and grounds maintenance contracts up to £200k annually.

The ideal candidate will excel in a fast-paced environment, consistently meeting and surpassing demanding deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales Performance:

  • Achieve annual sales targets for Extra Works and Infill projects within the region.
  • Maintain existing regional contracts.
  • Cultivate proactive client relationships to ensure a strong pipeline and high win rates.
  • Assist in developing Preferred Supplier Relationships with Tier 1 companies to bid for new contracts.

Operational Processes:

  • Ensure timely delivery of compliant bids, quotes, proposals, and tenders.
  • Improve the content and presentation of written proposals.
  • Utilize pricing tools for accurate and competitive pricing.
  • Secure necessary approvals for proposals.
  • Keep the CRM system updated with relevant information.

Opportunity Management:

  • Maintain a forward-looking pipeline of opportunities for the next 12 months, collaborating closely with regional team members.
  • Actively manage routes to market.
  • Provide regular updates on the progress of opportunities to the business.

Marketing Contributions:

  • Engage in marketing events and assist in content creation, including case studies and award submissions.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:

  • Operational experience in the grounds maintenance sector.
  • Strong commercial insight.
  • Ability to build lasting relationships with clients and operational teams.
  • Proven negotiation capabilities.
  • Self-driven with a history of meeting strict deadlines.
  • Capacity to organically generate new business with both new and existing clients.
  • Excellent team player.
  • Attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high standards and accuracy.
  • Confident and articulate in all forms of communication, including face-to-face, telephone, and written.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Valid Driving Licence for travel to client sites.

Desirable:

  • Previous sales experience.
  • Business development and public sector bidding experience.
  • Qualifications in Quantity Surveying.
