Job Overview

Department: IT Services

Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

Loughborough University is recognized among the top 10 universities in the UK, leading the way in enhancing the digital landscape, safeguarding our IT infrastructure, and crafting innovative strategies to navigate a fast-paced technological environment. We offer a stimulating and dynamic work experience, regardless of your career stage. Our campus fosters a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere, complemented by excellent facilities for our staff.

Role Summary:

Are you proficient in managing Linux servers within a production setting, familiar with UNIX shell (bash), Perl, Python, and experienced in compiling HPC code from source? We are seeking a High-Performance Computing (HPC) Specialist.

The University’s HPC framework is built on Linux systems, featuring high-performance storage solutions and interconnects, along with all necessary applications and monitoring tools.

Your responsibilities will encompass the entire lifecycle of server and storage equipment, including testing, procurement, configuration, deployment, reconfiguration, troubleshooting, and decommissioning.

Benefits of Working Here:

As a member of the IT Services team, you can anticipate:

• Support for your professional development, enabling you to achieve your career aspirations in a collaborative environment.

• Opportunities for growth, including exposure to a diverse range of technologies.

• Collaboration with various partners across the University to facilitate digital transformation and deliver exceptional service, as recognized by our students in national surveys.

• A flexible working policy, with options for home/hybrid arrangements where feasible.

• Access to a beautiful 440-acre campus in Leicestershire, featuring outstanding facilities, ample green spaces, gardens, and sports areas.

• A competitive employment package, including a favorable salary, generous holiday entitlement (up to 44 days for full-time staff, inclusive of public holidays and university closure days), and a pension scheme.

We welcome applications for job-sharing, part-time, and flexible working arrangements, which will be considered based on business requirements. The expectation is that the successful candidate will work on-site for a minimum of two days per week.

We value diversity in experience, thought, and perspective, which enriches our university community. We are committed to fostering a culture that promotes equity and celebrates diversity across our campus, actively seeking to enhance the diversity of our team.

Our campus community takes pride in our ongoing achievements, and our employees are integral to our success. We aim for our staff to feel as excited about their journey with us as our students do.

Regardless of your area of expertise within IT, if you are eager to make a meaningful impact, we would like to hear from you.
