About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mortuary Manager to lead our Mortuary and Bereavement services in BCUHB. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the management and supervision of our mortuary and bereavement services, ensuring the highest standards of care and compassion for our patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of strategic and operational pathways for the mortuary and bereavement services
  • Manage and supervise a team of mortuary and bereavement staff, providing guidance and support to ensure excellent patient care and service delivery
  • Develop and maintain departmental policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and guidelines
  • Collaborate with external agencies, including the Police, Coroner, and Medical Examiners Service, to ensure effective communication and coordination
  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff on matters related to mortuary and bereavement services, including training and development
Requirements
  • Master's degree in a relevant speciality or equivalent experience and qualifications
  • Significant experience working as a qualified Anatomical Pathology Technologist (APT)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to empathise and communicate effectively with bereaved relatives
  • Ability to manage and prioritise own workload and meetings, with a high level of organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to travel within the geographical area, with a valid driving licence
