About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mortuary Manager to lead our Mortuary and Bereavement services in BCUHB. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership to our mortuary and bereavement units, ensuring the highest standards of care and service delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of mortuary and bereavement staff, providing guidance and support to ensure excellent patient and relative care.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practice.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless service delivery and effective communication.
  • Manage budgets and resources to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
  • Ensure the safe and dignified handling of deceased individuals, adhering to HTA and UKAS guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external agencies, including the Police, Coroner, and Medical Examiners Service.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Significant experience working as an APT, with a strong background in mortuary operations and bereavement services.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage budgets and resources, with a strong focus on efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Knowledge of HTA and UKAS guidelines, with the ability to ensure compliance.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Membership of the Association of Anatomical Pathology Technologists.
  • UK DVI Membership.
  • Eye/Corneal Retrieval Training.
  • Knowledge of Best Practice set out by the AAPT.
  • European Computer Driving Licence.
