The R&A is seeking a talented and experienced professional to join their team in a newly established position of Catering Operations Manager.

This pivotal role involves overseeing the comprehensive planning, logistics, and execution of catering services for prestigious championships. You will work closely with a diverse range of internal and external partners to ensure that catering operations are delivered to an exceptional standard, aligning with the organization's objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the strategic planning and management of catering operations for the championships, collaborating with various stakeholders to achieve industry-leading service delivery.
  • Work alongside functional leaders to design and implement operational layouts for catering facilities, ensuring effective collaboration and site layout decisions.
  • Manage the selection and appointment of catering providers, including overseeing tender processes and legal agreements.
  • Coordinate staffing needs throughout the championship lifecycle, ensuring compliance with organizational standards and effective training for all personnel.
  • Supervise menu design and catering requirements to cater to a diverse audience, including players, spectators, and VIP guests.
  • Oversee the engagement of external contractors for catering infrastructure, ensuring all work is completed on schedule and within budget while adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Foster strong relationships with stakeholders across the organization, including Commercial Hospitality and Partnerships teams, to ensure seamless championship delivery.
  • Lead planning meetings with suppliers and internal teams, documenting outcomes and action items for follow-up.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for catering operations issues during championships, providing expert guidance and escalating matters as necessary.
  • Support management in evaluating catering operations, identifying areas for improvement, and contributing to long-term strategic planning.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in major event catering, preferably with a recognized event catering company.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, with relevant certifications being advantageous.
  • Proven ability to liaise with high-profile clients and manage customer experiences effectively.
