The University of St Andrews is seeking a dedicated Residential Services Manager to enhance its Residential and Business Services unit. This esteemed institution is renowned for its academic excellence and is committed to providing exceptional living experiences for its students.
The Residential and Business Services team oversees approximately 4,300 catered and self-catered student accommodations across 13 locations. As the largest operational division within the university, it employs around 400 staff members across various roles. In addition to managing student housing, the team operates cafes and bistros, provides catering for events, and offers accommodations for groups during the summer months.
The Residential Services Manager will report directly to the Deputy Director of Residential and Business Services, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services and the effective management of accommodation facilities. This role encompasses both semester and vacation operations, focusing on financial and operational efficiency. The manager will oversee annual budgets ranging from £300,000 to £2 million.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivering outstanding customer service and service management.
- Leading and managing staff effectively.
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Maintaining quality assurance standards.
- Problem-solving and addressing operational challenges.
- Managing financial resources and property maintenance.
- Overseeing project management initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
- Proven operational experience in managing large, multifunctional facilities, preferably within a university or similar environment.
- Strong staff management and teamwork skills.
- Experience in budget and financial management.
- Comprehensive knowledge of workplace health and safety standards.
- A minimum of five years of general administrative experience.
This position will typically require office hours from Monday to Friday during the academic term, with a flexible schedule during the summer months.
The role offers a competitive salary range of £37,099 to £44,263, along with generous benefits, including 39 days of holiday and a comprehensive university pension plan.
