Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Claims Resolution Expert to join our team at Legal & General. As a Medical Claims Assessor, you will be responsible for gathering evidence and assessing information to accept or decline claims, ensuring that decisions are fair and in line with company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather and assess evidence to make informed decisions on claims, considering the customer's expectations and the company's financial and reputational interests.
  • Manage claims from start to finish, processing them within established guidelines to maintain quality and consistency.
  • Communicate with customers and stakeholders in a professional and friendly manner, using the most appropriate method to minimize unnecessary contact.
  • Liaise with internal and external parties to obtain information, ensuring that customers' expectations are met and a positive impression of Legal & General is maintained.
  • Identify and resolve appeals and complaints in a timely and effective manner, escalating root causes and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Support colleagues with training, mentoring, and development to improve their skills and knowledge.
  • Manage claims of a sensitive or contentious nature, such as those involving fraud or litigation, working closely with managers and legal services to ensure effective resolution.

Requirements:

  • Experience in handling Income Protection claims, with a background in medical claims assessment.
  • Awareness of compliance regulations and adherence to these.
  • Good medical knowledge and understanding of underwriting, including new business processes.
  • Ability to show empathy and sensitivity when dealing with customers.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to handle difficult conversations and make informed decisions.
