Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Income Protection Claims Specialist to join our team in Hove. As a key member of our claims team, you will be responsible for assessing and resolving income protection claims in a fair and timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Claims Assessment: Gather and evaluate evidence to determine the validity of income protection claims, ensuring that decisions are based on sound reasoning and in line with company policies.
  • Claims Resolution: Manage claims from start to finish, adhering to established guidelines and service standards to ensure quality and consistency across the team.
  • Customer Communication: Effectively communicate with customers, using a range of methods to keep them informed and minimize unnecessary contact.
  • Liaison and Collaboration: Work with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, managers, and third-party providers, to obtain information and resolve claims.
  • Appeals and Complaints: Identify and address appeals and complaints, taking ownership of resolving issues in a timely and satisfactory manner.
  • Training and Development: Support the development of colleagues, providing training and mentoring to improve their skills and knowledge.
  • Contested Claims: Manage claims that are contentious or sensitive in nature, working closely with managers, GFC, and legal services to ensure effective resolution.
Requirements:
  • Experience: A minimum of [X] years of experience in handling income protection claims, with a strong understanding of compliance regulations and medical knowledge.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to empathize with customers and handle difficult situations.
  • Knowledge: Good understanding of financial calculations, reinsurance processes, and treaties.
  • Education: Relevant qualifications in a related field, such as insurance or finance.
