Position Overview:

The Benefit Programs Supervisor is responsible for overseeing a team of specialists tasked with assessing eligibility for various public assistance initiatives, including SNAP, Medicaid, and TANF. This role is pivotal in ensuring that individuals receive the necessary support and resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of specialists in the evaluation of eligibility for government assistance programs.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff while ensuring the effectiveness of case management services.
  • Administer programmatic oversight, including the review of case management strategies and quality assurance measures.
  • Distribute caseloads, coordinate team activities, assess performance, and suggest appropriate interventions.
  • Advocate for staff needs to upper management, develop policies, interpret relevant regulations, and onboard new personnel.
  • Engage in the formulation of agency policies, make case decisions, authorize emergency assistance, and collaborate with external agencies.
  • Oversee program expenditures, engage with community organizations, and foster relationships with both public and private sectors.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of contemporary social, economic, and health-related issues, effective leadership, public assistance frameworks, case management supervision, and interviewing methodologies.
  • Proficient in utilizing computer systems and standard office applications.
  • Competence in operating personal computers and associated software tools.

Demonstrated Skills:

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with others, independently supervise and train staff, communicate clearly, interpret laws and regulations, organize and manage work tasks, cultivate positive working relationships, and assess financial assistance programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in roles such as Benefit Program Supervisor, Benefit Program Trainer, or senior-level positions within a social services context.
  • Bachelor's degree in a human services discipline, with experience in a leadership or supervisory role, or equivalent qualifications.
  • Extensive background in Public Assistance Programs, with bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred.
