Benefits Supervisor

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Benefits Supervisor to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a key member of our social services department, you will be responsible for supervising specialists who determine eligibility for government assistance programs, such as SNAP, Medicaid, and TANF Appeals and Fraud.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and train staff to ensure effective delivery of case management services
- Monitor case management plans and quality assurance of services
- Develop written guidelines for delivery of case management services
- Assign caseloads to staff and coordinate activities
- Hold individual and group conferences to review cases and problems
- Review case records and evaluate staff performance
- Recommend hiring, disciplinary actions, transfer, promotion, and termination of personnel
- Represent eligibility staff needs to senior management team
- Prepare and implement internal operating policies and procedures
- Interpret regulations, policy, and other program information changes to staff
- Considerable knowledge of current social, economic, and health issues and trends
- Principles and practices of effective supervision
- Public assistance programs, especially SNAP and Medicaid, policies and regulations
- Casework supervision principles and practices
- Effective interviewing techniques
- Working knowledge of computer systems and standard office software
- Direct experience as a Benefit Program Supervisor, Benefit Program Trainer, or senior level experience in a social services environment
- Bachelor's degree in the human services field and human services program experience in a lead or supervisory capacity
