Job Overview

The Strategic Partnerships Manager will play a pivotal role in advancing the mission of the Adam Smith Business School (ASBS) by fostering and managing strategic external relationships and partnerships, while creating engagement opportunities that align with the School's vision and External Engagement strategies.

Key Responsibilities 1.

Oversee and execute a robust business development strategy to cultivate a continuous stream of opportunities in education and research, such as student consultancy, guest lectures, collaborative projects, and knowledge-sharing events with external organizations.

2.

Manage both new and existing partnerships, assessing partner needs and facilitating access to the expertise required to achieve successful academic and student outcomes. This may involve directing them to appropriate services, making introductions, or providing ongoing project support.

3.

Deliver professional support to academic staff regarding External Engagement initiatives. Collaborate with colleagues to identify and promote potential external engagement in research and educational activities, including those that enhance knowledge exchange and teaching portfolio development.

4.

Assist in developing the 'engagement offer' across research expertise and professional development, ensuring alignment between internal capabilities and external demands. Enhance systems, frameworks, and processes for effective business development throughout the School.

5.

In collaboration with the team, ensure that activities remain on schedule, monitor performance against established plans, and track progress towards set KPIs, ensuring adherence to the agreed business development strategy.

6.

Support the international strategy as necessary, maximizing existing partnerships and cultivating new relationships beyond the UK.

7.

Contribute to the School's objectives in the executive education sector, focusing on identifying avenues for growth and revenue generation.

8.

Maintain and optimize relevant records, processes, and systems to support the School's external activities and manage stakeholder data effectively.

9.

Actively monitor national and international trends and policy developments that may impact University and School strategies, identifying and leveraging new opportunities in line with the established strategy.

10.

Coordinate the efforts of the external engagement team with a broader network of colleagues across the College and University.

11.

Assist the Student Recruitment and External Engagement Manager in managing the School's external engagement budget to ensure proper oversight.

12.

Provide line management for the Business Coordinator role and step in for the Student Recruitment and External Engagement Manager as a member of the School Professional Service Leadership Team when necessary. Undertake additional duties and participate in committees and groups that contribute to strategic direction, policies, and practices.

Qualifications and Skills Required

Essential Knowledge/Qualifications

A1 A degree (or equivalent professional experience) in a relevant field, with evidence of ongoing professional development in a related area.

Desirable

B1 Familiarity with strategic priorities relevant to the University of Glasgow, the College of Social Sciences, and the Adam Smith Business School. B2 Advanced degree or professional certification in a pertinent field. B3 Knowledge and experience in the Executive Education sector.

Essential Experience

E1 Experience in a business development role, showcasing management capabilities and knowledge in a relevant professional area. E2 Proven experience collaborating with various sectors, including large corporations, professional organizations, public sector entities, SMEs, and non-profits. E3 Successful track record in building networks, collaborations, and professional relationships. E4 Experience working independently, prioritizing tasks, and managing multiple deadlines.

Desirable Experience

F1 Experience in budget management.

Terms and Conditions

Salary will be Grade 7, £39,347 - £44,263 per annum. This position is full-time (35 hours per week) and permanent.
