The Strategic Partnerships Manager will play a pivotal role in advancing the mission of the Adam Smith Business School (ASBS) by fostering collaborative external relationships and creating engagement opportunities that align with the School's strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities 1.Oversee and execute a robust business development strategy to cultivate a continuous flow of opportunities in educational initiatives and research collaborations, such as student consultancy, guest lectures, projects, and knowledge exchange events with external organizations.
2.Manage both new and existing external partnerships, assessing partner needs and facilitating access to the expertise necessary for achieving successful academic and student outcomes.
This may involve directing services, facilitating introductions, or providing ongoing professional project support. 3. Deliver a professional support service to academic staff concerning External Engagement.Collaborate with academic and professional colleagues to identify and promote potential external engagement in research and educational activities, including initiatives that foster knowledge exchange and enhance teaching portfolios.
4. Assist in the development of the 'engagement offer' that encompasses research expertise and professional development, ensuring alignment between internal requirements and external demands. Enhance systems, frameworks, and processes for effective business development throughout the School. 5.In collaboration with the team, ensure that activities remain on schedule, monitor performance against established plans, and track progress towards defined KPIs, guaranteeing the execution of the agreed-upon strategy regarding the business development pipeline.
6. Support the international strategy as needed, optimizing current relationships and establishing new partnerships beyond the UK. 7.Contribute to the School's aspirations in the executive education sector, focusing on identifying growth opportunities and income generation.
8.Maintain and enhance appropriate records, processes, and systems to support the School's external activities and manage stakeholder data effectively.
Contribute to School-wide accreditation efforts (currently AACSB, EQUIS, AMBA). 9.Continuously monitor national and international sector trends and policy developments that may impact University and School strategies. Identify and leverage new opportunities in alignment with the agreed strategy.
10. Coordinate the activities of the external engagement team with a broader network of colleagues across the College and University.Assist the Student Recruitment and External Engagement Manager in managing the School's external engagement budget to ensure proper oversight.
11. Provide line management for the Business Coordinator role. 12.Act as a deputy for the Student Recruitment and External Engagement Manager as a member of the School Professional Service Leadership Team when required.
Undertake additional duties and participate in meetings as assigned by senior staff. Engage as a member of committees and groups contributing to strategic direction, policies, and practices.Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
Essential Knowledge/Qualifications A1 A Degree (or equivalent work experience) in a relevant field/business area; with evidence of ongoing professional development in a pertinent area.Desirable B1 Familiarity with the strategic priorities of the University of Glasgow; the College of Social Sciences, and the Adam Smith Business School.
B2 Advanced degree or professional qualification in a relevant discipline.B3 Knowledge and experience within the Executive Education sector.

Essential Experience
E1 Experience in a business development role with the aforementioned qualifications or substantial vocational experience demonstrating management capabilities and knowledge in a relevant professional/specialist area.E2 Experience collaborating with a variety of sectors, including large corporations, professional organizations, public sector entities, SMEs, and the third sector.
E3 Proven experience in establishing networks, collaborations, and professional relationships.E4 Experience working independently, setting priorities, and managing multiple tasks to meet deadlines. Desirable F1 Experience in budget management. Terms and Conditions Salary will be Grade 7, £39,347 - £44,263 per annum. This position is full-time (35 hours per week) and open-ended (permanent).
