Job Title: Senior Polymer Scientist

Join Synthomer, a leading global supplier of water-based polymers, in a challenging and rewarding role as a Senior Polymer Scientist. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating complex technical work programs associated with innovation projects in core technology areas.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and deliver technical programs within defined projects, delegating work to others as needed.
  • Develop new products, recipes, applications, or capabilities based on knowledge of chemistry and product application know-how.
  • Lead competitor and patent watch processes for defined areas and engage with IP/FTO landscaping for projects.
  • Ensure high scientific rigor in analysis and assessment of data in own and others' work.
  • Build an external network within the industry and represent the company at conferences through scientific presentations.
  • Responsible for performance management and personal development of direct reports (where applicable).
Requirements:
  • PhD with 3-5 years or Master's degree with 5-7 years of post-graduation experience in developing new products, concepts, techniques, or standards across multiple technical disciplines.
  • Proven ability to ensure high scientific rigor is applied to all analysis and assessment of data in own and others' work.
  • Understanding of confidentiality, NDA, CDA, anatomy of a patent, and ability to carry out basic IP searching.
  • Understanding of the regulatory landscape for specific product application areas and ability to recognize regulatory risks and develop/execute mitigation plans.
  • Able to work with minimum supervision.
