Job Description

Job Title: Apprentice Customer Service Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Apprentice Customer Service Engineer to join our team at UK Power Networks. As a key member of our Network Operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe delivery of all Distribution Capital Delivery work within the Central London Area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety Management: Ensure safety management throughout all areas of responsibility, adhering to company procedures and protocols.
  • Resource Utilization: Daily planning, coordination, and real-time responsibility for the efficient utilization of resources with the Schedulers and Field Staff Supervisors.
  • Project Delivery: Responsibility for safe delivery of HV and LV projects to time, cost, and quality, minimizing network abnormal running conditions.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure staff comply with all procedures and work to a high standard of quality, completing quality assurance checks of works completed and rectifying any quality issues identified.
  • Customer Liaison: Liaise with and manage relationships with our customers to meet their expectations, providing excellent customer service and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Team Collaboration: Support and provide technical support to field staff, working collaboratively with the scheduling team, Field Staff Supervisor, and Field Staff to deliver an excellent service to the customer.
  • Contract Management: Manage and resolve any contractual issues, with the support of Contract Management.
  • Risk Assessment: Produce Risk Assessments and Method Statements for the safe delivery of projects work.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support to field staff, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: ONC Electrical Engineering (or equivalent), HNC Electrical Engineering (or equivalent), NRSWA (City & Guilds) Supervisors certificate, IT literate, including financial and work package (SAP), current valid driving licence, LV/HV authorisation on the LPN network, Superuser/champion of new company scheduling and work delivery processes (SAP), IOSH Managing Safely certificate, familiarity with MS Excel spreadsheets.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a similar role, with a strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and practices.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively in a team environment, strong problem-solving and analytical skills, ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Health and Safety Responsibilities:

Managers and supervisors carry both legal and company responsibilities for ensuring the health and safety of their employees, those under their control, and those who might be affected by the work undertaken. This includes briefing individuals working for them and ensuring there is the necessary understanding, competence, and application of requirements to work safely and without harming the environment.

Employees will ensure they understand the health and safety risks involved in their work activities and their responsibility to apply the controls needed to manage those risks to acceptable levels. Similarly, where work activities can have an adverse impact upon the environment, and where there are legal requirements, employees will understand those impacts and the controls they must ensure are applied.

Employees need to be aware that for some craft and operational roles that work at height, or use fall arrest devices, there is an upper weight limit of 116Kg due to maximum safe working load of the safety equipment that is used.
