We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Victim Support Specialist to join our team at the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. This role requires a strong background in counseling, social work, or related fields, as well as the ability to handle high-stress situations and maintain confidentiality.
Main Responsibilities- Provide victim advocacy services and support to individuals affected by crimes, including offering emotional support and connecting them to resources.
- Assist surviving family members of suicide, homicide, and attempts, providing them with guidance and support during a difficult time.
- Inform victims about their legal rights and available services, ensuring they receive the support they need to navigate the justice system.
- Advocate for victims with relevant agencies and organizations, working to ensure their voices are heard and their needs are met.
- Collaborate with law enforcement to provide updates to victims, maintaining open communication and transparency throughout the process.
- Develop educational materials and establish partnerships with service providers, working to improve the overall victim support system.
- A high school diploma or higher education in a related field, such as counseling or social work.
- Several years of experience in a related field, with a strong background in crisis intervention and social service systems.
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain professionalism, even in high-stress situations.
- Previous experience in victim advocacy, with a strong understanding of the victim support system.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to create educational materials and reports.
