We are seeking a Senior Cost Estimator to enhance our Construction division.

Location: Crawley

Salary: £75,000 - £85,000

Contract: Permanent, Full Time

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Cost Estimator, you will play a crucial role in generating profitable bids for approval and submission, aiming to increase our order pipeline and its conversion into market share, revenue, and operational profit within the business unit. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Contributing to the preparation of tenders by proposing costs and estimating resources for various projects.
  • Leading and motivating the estimating team, ensuring the adoption of best practices.
  • Engaging in the contract acquisition process while minimizing risks and maximizing profitability through accurate cost estimation, supplier negotiations, and value engineering support.
  • Participating in the assessment, preparation, validation, adjudication, and final submission of tenders, focusing on reducing subcontractor and material costs while collaborating with design, planning, commercial, and bid management teams.
  • Estimating costs to meet or exceed client expectations, including obtaining and negotiating quotes.
  • Building and maintaining strong commercial relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors throughout the tendering and fulfillment processes.

Candidate Profile

To qualify for this position, candidates should possess experience in construction estimation, preferably with a Tier 1 contractor.

Essential skills and attributes include:

  • Proven experience with our project portfolio and a solid understanding of technical construction principles.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of industry best practices and standards.
  • Exceptional research, proposal writing, and oral presentation abilities.
  • Experience with both Single and Two Stage Tendering processes.
