About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Structural Engineer to join our team at Wood, a global leader in consulting and engineering. As a Principal Structural Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting our current modifications portfolio with one of our major UK North Sea clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide structural engineering expertise to projects, ensuring delivery of projects to tight timescales in accordance with client expectations.
  • Define structural engineering requirements for technical scopes, developing deliverables and documentation for use in offshore construction workpacks.
  • Prepare purchase requisitions for the procurement of structural fabrications/special items, and undertake engineering checking & approvals.
  • Support the Lead Structural Engineer, providing expertise to interdisciplinary considerations through attendance at design reviews and IDC checking.
  • Execute facility engineering design in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
Discipline Specific Requirements
  • Brownfield Oil & Gas Structural Engineering Experience is essential, with expertise in areas such as hot and cold connection design, pipe support design, retrofit deck extensions, and vendor package support grillage design.
  • Proficient with specialist software packages, including MathCad and STAADpro, and knowledge of International Codes & Client Standards, such as AISC, Norsok, and Equinor TR.
General Requirements
  • Adhere to and comply with relevant discipline specific procedures, providing feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrate compliance with Company Core Values and with the Ethics Policy.
  • Technically competent in own discipline, actively maintaining own competence according to engineering council requirements and pursuing continuous professional development.
  • Ensure self-awareness of relevant regulatory framework, legislation changes, initiatives, and industry developments, promoting knowledge sharing to direct reports.
Minimum Qualifications
  • MSc, MEng or BSc, BEng or equivalent with extensive relevant experience.
  • Familiar with technical direction and control of brownfield Oil & Gas engineering projects.
  • Chartered Engineer Status preferred but not essential.
