Oxford, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom Oxford University Hospitals Full time

Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity has emerged to become a vital member of the Paediatric Dietetic Department at the esteemed Oxford University Hospitals.

We are seeking a passionate Band Paediatric Dietitian to collaborate with our vibrant team in delivering a highly specialized dietetic service to young patients. A band to preceptorship will be considered for the ideal candidate.

You will join a busy, welcoming, and dynamic group of specialist paediatric dietitians, providing care in both inpatient and outpatient environments, alongside dietetic assistants. Our team collaborates with well-established specialist Multidisciplinary Teams, contributing to the care of infants and children with diverse clinical and complex conditions.

The ability to adapt to a changing environment, excellent communication skills, and evidence of ongoing professional development relevant to this role are essential. Regular supervision and support will be available.

This position involves working closely with band colleagues to deliver dietetic support to inpatients, focusing on oncology and general acute wards.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Provide a comprehensive specialized paediatric dietetic service to children receiving care as inpatients, day cases, or outpatients, in collaboration with other Paediatric Dietitians.
  2. Deliver tailored specialist dietary guidance to children and their families, addressing a wide range of conditions and therapeutic needs, while offering counselling and support regarding prescribed diets.
  3. Administer oral and enteral nutrition support, utilizing enteral feeding expertise and knowledge.
  4. Participate in regular departmental meetings, provide coverage for colleagues during absences, and engage in the bank holiday on-call rota.
  5. Initiate and engage in quality improvement, service development, audits, or research, making recommendations for enhancements to patient care and outcomes.
  6. Deliver specialist training and supervision to dietetic colleagues and students, as well as educational programs for non-dietetic staff.

Working with Us

We are a supportive and friendly team that embodies the Trust values, dedicated to learning, self-improvement, and service development.
