Position Overview

Become a Volunteer Mentor with Seetec Business Technology Centre and make a significant impact in the lives of individuals we support, primarily adult males. Your role will involve providing tailored, one-on-one assistance aimed at enhancing the participants' lives, equipping them with essential skills to foster personal growth and break free from cycles of reoffending.

Our mission is to facilitate access to education and personal development. We firmly believe that everyone deserves the chance to create a brighter future, irrespective of their past decisions or current obstacles.

The ideal candidate will possess personal experience with the Criminal Justice System and have a desire to contribute positively to the community. Eligibility criteria include being substance-free for a minimum of six months, adhering to legal obligations, and taking accountability for past behaviors.

If you lack this experience, we welcome volunteers from diverse backgrounds to reflect the community we serve. All you need is to be at least 18 years old.

Your strong communication skills and empathetic nature will be crucial in building and maintaining effective relationships with participants. We seek individuals who can serve as positive role models, inspiring and empowering participants to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accompany participants to scheduled appointments
  • Provide support in literacy and numeracy, including assistance with form completion
  • Encourage participant engagement by reminding them of important appointments
  • Offer both practical and emotional support to participants
  • Facilitate compliance with probation requirements and license conditions
  • Assist participants in seeking employment, apprenticeships, or volunteer opportunities
  • Support participants in finding suitable housing options
Required Skills and Experience
  • Exhibit empathy and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive matters with discretion
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with strong listening skills
  • Accurately input and maintain information in computer-based systems
  • Demonstrate authority and establish boundaries appropriately
  • Work independently and manage stressful situations effectively
