Are you knowledgeable about the impacts of alcohol and drug-related harm and have a background in supporting vulnerable individuals?

If this resonates with you, we present an engaging opportunity within the North East Edinburgh Service for seasoned Senior Support Practitioners specializing in Alcohol and Other Drugs. This full-time position operates Monday to Friday, with occasional evening commitments.

Role Overview

This is a unique opportunity for a Senior Support Practitioner. Unlike traditional support roles, working with Turning Point Scotland ensures that no two days are alike.

You will serve as the initial point of contact, conducting assessments, fostering trusting relationships, and providing continuous keyworker support, where effective communication is vital.

Additionally, you will engage in group work settings and/or conduct Assertive Outreach in various community environments, including individuals' homes and healthcare facilities. Your role will involve delivering harm reduction strategies and interventions to some of the most at-risk populations who use drugs. These individuals may have experienced multiple non-fatal overdoses and are currently disengaged from treatment or support services.

Candidate Profile

As our Senior Support Practitioner, you will possess expertise in drug and alcohol-related issues. You will adhere to the service delivery schedule from Monday to Friday, collaborating with the Service Manager and Service Coordinator to oversee daily operations within the Edinburgh Service, ensuring a high standard of social care support, which includes line management responsibilities for the staff team.

You will demonstrate passion and commitment, employing innovative methods to engage individuals, including home visits (with a colleague) to provide community support. Your efforts will significantly impact individuals' lives, as you continue to offer assistance until they can transition to more structured support within the hub.
