The School of Electrical, Electronic, and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bristol is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill a key role in our research group focused on Optical and Quantum Networks. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research and teaching in a world-class environment.

The successful candidate will be appointed at either the Associate Professor or Professor level, based on their skills, qualifications, and experience. The remuneration package will be dependent on the skills, experience, and qualifications you bring to this role.

As a key member of our team, your primary research focus will be on advancing the design and solutions of classical optical and quantum networks, including co-existence, in line with our research vision. Areas of interest include high-capacity Optical switched networks, quantum entangled networks, advanced network control and management, AI/ML for future optical/quantum networks, security, resilience, sustainability, and computing and network co-design.

In addition to your research, you will be expected to undertake teaching and project supervision duties at the undergraduate, MSc, and PhD levels, with a particular focus on our BEng/MEng in Computer Science and Electronics Engineering, as well as our Masters programmes in Optical and Quantum Networks and related technologies.

We are looking for a candidate with a proven ability to conduct world-leading research and demonstrate leadership in Optical and Quantum Networks. A strong track record of securing research funding from a range of sources, including scientific foundations, space agencies, government bodies, and industry, is also essential. You should also demonstrate an interest in developing innovative ways to integrate teaching, research, and technology development.
