About the Role

The University of Bristol is seeking a highly skilled and experienced researcher to join our team as a Professor of Optical and Quantum Networks. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of cutting-edge research in optical and quantum networking, and to play a key role in shaping the future of telecommunications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct world-leading research in Optical and Quantum Networks, with a focus on advancing the design and solutions of classical optical and quantum networks.
  • Develop and deliver innovative teaching in Optical and Quantum Networks, with a passion for driving excellence in student learning.
  • Supervise undergraduate, MSc, and PhD students, with a particular focus on our BEng/MEng in Computer Science and Electronics Engineering, as well as our Masters programmes in Optical and Quantum Networks and related technologies.
  • Contribute to the development of research proposals and secure funding from a range of sources, including scientific foundations, space agencies, government bodies, and industry.

  • A proven track record of conducting world-leading research in Optical and Quantum Networks.
  • A strong track record of securing research funding from a range of sources.
  • A clear and focused vision for future research that aligns with and enhances the activities of the High-Performance Networks research group.
  • The ability to develop and deliver innovative teaching in Optical and Quantum Networks.
