Position Overview:
We are seeking applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to contribute to the Quantum Imaging research team within the Department of Physics. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic experimentalist or theorist with a background in quantum optics or nonlinear optics.
Research Focus:
This research initiative aims to advance technology through quantum imaging techniques utilizing undetected photons. This innovative approach enables imaging of an object via two correlated beams: one in the infrared spectrum illuminating the object, while the other in the visible spectrum captures its image. This method presents significant advantages for infrared imaging, utilizing cost-effective visible cameras. The primary application of this project is to enhance infrared spectroscopy for cancer diagnosis, in collaboration with a company established by Imperial academics. This aligns with governmental initiatives supporting quantum technology.
Key Objectives:
- Implement the imaging methodology for cancer diagnostics.
- Advance imaging techniques using undetected photons.
Responsibilities:
The post holder will engage in independent and innovative research within the UK Quantum Hub in Sensing, Imaging, and Timing (QuSIT). Responsibilities include:
- Publishing findings in peer-reviewed journals.
- Assisting in the administration of the Research Group.
- Collaborating with graduate students and interdisciplinary scientists.
Essential Qualifications:
A PhD (or equivalent) in Physics, Physical Science, or a closely related field is required.
- Demonstrated potential and originality in research, evidenced by a strong publication record appropriate for the candidate's career stage.
