Your Role and Responsibilities

We are offering internships for MSc and PhD students interested in experiencing the research environment in IBM Quantum.

IBM Quantum is an industry-leading initiative to build universal quantum computers for business, engineering, and science.

Based in the Quantum Algorithms and Applications team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to ongoing research in quantum simulation, quantum machine learning, and quantum error mitigation.

During your internship, you will work on challenging research problems as part of a diverse team in a global research organization.

Our cross-disciplinary approach to research, coupled with the curiosity of our researchers and engineers, offers a unique opportunity to participate in scientific and industrial research.

Interns have authored papers, filed patents, and contributed to open-source projects and IBM products during their time with us.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  1. Applicants should be enrolled in an MSc or PhD programme in physics, mathematics, computer science, chemistry or a related field focusing on quantum computing and quantum information.
  2. Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research.
