Quantum Computing Research Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled Quantum Computing Research Scientist to join our team at Quantinuum. As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying quantum computers using trapped ions as qubits. Your expertise in experimental laboratory research and ability to work alongside teams of scientists and engineers will be essential in bringing new concepts to life.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and verify quantum computers using trapped ions as qubits.
  • Work alongside teams of scientists and engineers to bring new concepts to life.
  • Collect data on system performance and characterize device characteristics in a research lab environment.
  • Perform design trade studies and analysis.
  • Present scientific results at conferences or in publications.
Requirements:
  • PhD completed prior to starting.
  • Minimum 4+ years' experience involving one or more of the following areas: quantum information, qubits, atomic physics, precision spectroscopy, optics, vacuum systems, electronics, cryogenics, or laser.
  • Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person.
We Value:
  • Experience with design or operation of a device for quantum information processing.
  • Experience with laser cooling and trapping of ions or neutral atoms.
  • Experience performing simulation and modeling to inform experiments.
  • Experience programming experimental control systems for data collection, signal processing, and data analysis.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with published results within their field of research.
  • Experience in post-doctoral research positions or other mentorship positions.
  • Demonstrated organizational and leadership skills.

Compensation & Benefits:Non-Incentive Eligible Estimated Salary Wage: $112,000 - $152,000 Annually
