Position Overview: Communications Manager

The Centre for Disaster Protection is dedicated to mitigating the impact of disasters on vulnerable populations by transforming how organizations and governments prepare for and finance disaster response. Our mission centers on disaster risk financing, ensuring that resources and plans are established before crises occur, thereby safeguarding the most at-risk communities. We prioritize collaboration across various sectors and regions to enhance the effectiveness and equity of disaster risk financing, ensuring no one is overlooked.

Role Summary: We are in search of a Communications Manager to oversee and execute our comprehensive communications initiatives, which encompass content management, digital strategy, branding, and stakeholder relations.

Your contributions will be vital in developing and executing our communications strategy, maintaining high standards in all external communications. This includes managing the Centre for Disaster Protection's publications, website, newsletters, social media, and other content formats. You will excel at translating intricate research into engaging content, leveraging your exceptional communication, interpersonal, and project management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quality Assurance in Publications: Ensure that all outputs meet the Centre's quality benchmarks by providing guidance and mentorship to team members on best practices and processes.
  • Content Production Management: Oversee the entire content production pipeline, from research completion to publication launch, while managing freelancer performance.
  • Content Development: Collaborate with the Head of Communications to create compelling content across various formats, ensuring our evidence and insights are effectively communicated to target audiences.
  • Digital Strategy and Branding: Manage the Centre's online presence, enhancing brand identity and ensuring consistent messaging across all platforms.
  • Daily Communications Oversight: Handle day-to-day communications activities, including planning and administration, while also supporting related projects as needed.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess extensive professional experience in communications, particularly in content management and research dissemination. Key qualifications include:

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities, capable of engaging with colleagues and external partners across various levels.
  • Proficiency in simplifying complex information into clear, engaging messages.
  • Demonstrated project management skills with a focus on delivering results.
  • Experience in managing external suppliers and coordinating creative projects.
