Commercial Manager

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join our team at Capita. As a key member of our commercial function, you will play a critical role in supporting our clients within the Central Government sector.
Key Responsibilities- Contract Management: Be the main point of contact for principal client contracts and provide in-life client contract management support.
- Risk Management: Identify, manage, and report on key commercial and legal risks, communicating with the Legal function as necessary.
- Contract Review and Interpretation: Review, interpret, and advise on existing contract rights and obligations.
- Change Management: Lead change management of contracts, including the production of BAU contract variations.
- Reporting and Record-Keeping: Support the production of regular contract reporting, maintain contract records, and ensure they are accessible as directed.
- Meeting Minutes and Administration: Record, ratify, and circulate commercial and negotiation meeting minutes when required, and perform ongoing administrative tasks related to contracts.
- Sub-Contractor Relationship Management: Support the management of sub-contractor relationships.
- Due Diligence and MI/Audit Data: Support due diligence and MI/audit data request activities.
- Client-Specific Management Teams: Work as part of client-specific management teams, contributing to client-specific strategy, review, and performance.
- Exit Activities: Support exit activities for Central Government sub-accounts with exiting clients.
- Client and Supplier Governance: Understand and champion Capita's Client and Supplier governance and sign-off processes, ensuring compliance.
- Commercial Support: Provide commercial support in deal shaping, negotiations, and contracting.
- Pricing and Governance: Review pricing of existing and new business proposals to ensure alignment with company margin, risk, and contingency provisions, and ensure all customer and supplier bids/contracts are approved and reviewed in line with deal approval governance and policy prior to submission/signature.
- Experience: An experienced Commercial Manager with a demonstrable track record of owning and delivering pre- and post-contract activity.
- Bid Preparation and Submission: Good understanding of bid preparation and submission processes (ITT, RFP, BAFO).
- Commercial Risk Analysis: Ability to identify and analyze key commercial risks such as KPIs, SLAs, contractual dependencies, and milestones.
- Contract Drafting and Negotiation: Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills.
- Contract Law: Strong knowledge of contract law and its application in SW/IT/BPO/Professional Services environments.
- GDPR: Good working knowledge of GDPR.
- Financial Acumen: Good basic financial acumen (P&L, cash flow, balance sheet) and understanding of financial modeling, contract pricing, and differing pricing models.
- Reporting and Communication: Ability to produce reports and summaries (ad hoc and regular) that clearly articulate key matters for a senior and/or non-commercial audience.
- Qualifications: Ideally qualified to degree level or equivalent achieved through demonstrably successful experience.
- Accreditation: WorldCC Practitioner or Advanced Practitioner accreditation a plus but not essential.
