Opportunity Overview

As a Cybersecurity Systems Engineer, you will play a crucial role in enhancing and maintaining the Cyber and Information Security frameworks to safeguard the organization's IT infrastructure against potential threats.
Your expertise will be essential in understanding the technical landscape, deploying security solutions, and managing protective measures while assessing risks that could jeopardize the organization’s operations.

This position is ideal for individuals with a strong technical foundation who excel in deploying, optimizing, and sustaining security technologies, implementing protective measures, and investigating complex IT challenges. You will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to address or mitigate identified risks.

Our technological environment is primarily built on the Microsoft ecosystem, with an increasing emphasis on cloud solutions such as Azure, Dynamics 365, and Office 365.

This role is situated within the Information Security Team of the Technology division. You will work in tandem with Cybersecurity Analysts, who serve as the first line of defense during cyber incidents, although you should also be adept at managing security incident responses.

To thrive in this position, you will need to cultivate strong collaborative relationships across the organization to advocate for robust security practices and assist your colleagues in executing the necessary security initiatives. This is a hybrid role requiring in-office presence on select days.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Security Infrastructure – Design, implement, and maintain security systems and protocols to protect sensitive information from cyber threats.
  • Vulnerability Oversight – Continuously assess and enhance our vulnerability management strategy, ensuring accurate reporting and prioritization of risks.
  • Compliance Assurance – Assist in the ongoing implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of security controls to ensure adherence to policies and effectiveness in risk reduction.
  • Active Monitoring – Leverage security tools to safeguard the organization's boundaries, endpoints, servers, and cloud systems.
  • Incident Response – Demonstrate proficiency in managing security incidents, collaborating closely with external Security Operations Centers and internal teams.
  • Security Evaluation – Contribute to a security testing program that identifies and addresses vulnerabilities in critical systems.
  • Audit Support – Facilitate regular internal and external audit processes.
  • Project Engagement – Support the integration of security measures in project designs by articulating security requirements and ensuring due diligence.
  • Innovative Security Practices – Enhance security capabilities by evaluating and adopting new technologies.
  • Continuous Development – Advance the security function through ongoing improvements in technical systems and documented procedures.
  • Threat Awareness – Stay informed about emerging threats and develop strategies to protect the organization’s systems.
  • Policy Development – Assist in the formulation and implementation of security policies and standards.
  • Data Reporting – Collect and analyze data to support the creation of security-related reports.
  • Data Protection – Ensure robust data security through various prevention tools and techniques.
  • Vendor Relations – Build strong partnerships with third-party vendors to ensure effective configuration and communication.

Qualifications for Success:

  • Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience in Information/Cyber Security.
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Microsoft security qualifications, or equivalent.
  • Proven experience across diverse cybersecurity domains.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of information security principles and practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to deploy and manage security tools effectively.
  • Experience with audits, assurance reviews, and risk assessments in complex environments.
  • Familiarity with vulnerability scanning, penetration testing, and endpoint security tools.
  • Ability to investigate and resolve technical issues collaboratively.
  • Understanding of security best practices within a Microsoft-centric environment.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and standards.
  • Capability to convey security concepts clearly to technical peers.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment while addressing complex challenges.
  • Experience in generating security-related data and reports.
  • Strong organizational skills to lead product implementations efficiently.
  • Attention to detail for developing low-level designs and implementation plans.
