About the Role

Liverpool John Moores University is a pioneering institution with a strong presence in the Liverpool City Region and a global reach. Our students and staff are the driving force behind our city's growth and development, and we're seeking an exceptional leader to join our School of Education.

We're looking for a highly experienced and innovative leader to oversee our Primary Initial Teacher Education (ITE) programmes, which lead to a qualification in teaching. The successful candidate will be responsible for nurturing and developing these programmes, as well as our relationships with partner primary schools.

The School of Education is renowned for its high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate provision, as well as its growing reputation for international partnerships and cutting-edge educational research. Our student numbers on Primary ITE programmes total around 320, and we're committed to providing an outstanding experience for our students.

We're seeking a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of the ITE environment and a proven track record in the sector. The successful candidate will require a strong and nuanced understanding of the UK teacher education landscape, including the requirements of recruitment to Primary ITE programmes, internal and external audits, and the current Ofsted inspection framework.

We're looking for an individual who can design and deliver highly effective Primary programmes, lead on promotion and recruitment, and evaluate and develop these programmes in accordance with quality assurance processes. The successful candidate will also support all relevant PSRB requirements, undertake operational management, and make strategic contributions to the School Management Team.

We're seeking an experienced and innovative ITE leader with a relevant undergraduate degree, QTS, or PGCE (QTS), and a PhD or professional qualification. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to operate effectively in a demanding environment with both academic and professional practice requirements and compliance demands.
