Position Overview

The successful candidate will be an integral part of a dedicated team of Radiology professionals, consisting of Consultant Radiologists and Radiology Specialists, committed to delivering a comprehensive radiological service.

Key Responsibilities

The role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including:

  • Providing expert radiological guidance and services to users of the radiology departments.
  • Ensuring adherence to Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposures) Regulations, in collaboration with the radiation protection supervisor and advisor.
  • Taking personal accountability for the clinical management of referred patients.
  • Offering support and information to clinical colleagues and other staff as necessary.
  • Participating in the supervision, training, and professional growth of radiographic staff.
  • Engaging in educational sessions with other clinical specialties.
  • Contributing to departmental audit and governance initiatives.
  • Attending relevant multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Participating in the on-call rota for radiology services.
  • Actively engaging in the Trust's appraisal and revalidation processes.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential:

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • FRCR or equivalent radiology qualification.
  • Full registration and a license to practice with the General Medical Council.

Desirable:

  • Additional professional qualifications or higher degrees in medical education, clinical research, or management.

Skills and Knowledge:

Essential:

  • Exhibiting professional values and behaviors in line with GMC Good Medical Practice.
  • Demonstrating relevant clinical competencies and knowledge.
  • Effectively managing patient care and formulating appropriate management plans.
  • Exhibiting strong communication skills and a patient-centered approach.
  • Respecting patient confidentiality and dignity.

Desirable:

  • Understanding of public health principles relevant to the specialty.

Education and Training:

Essential:

  • Assessing personal learning needs and developing a personal development plan.
  • Supporting the educational needs of individuals and teams.
